Livio Russi

Livio Russi was born in Switzerland. He studied in Lugano with Milan Řeřicha and in Geneva with Romain Guyot. He received further musical education through a multitude of master classes with Robert Pickup, Yehuda Gilad, François Benda and Pascal Moragues.

His two years in the orchestra academy of the Zurich Opera House and several years at the Verbier Festival were clearly among the most significant musical influences of Livio Russi.

In 2016 he joined the Royal Orchestra of the Opera House in Copenhagen as E-flat and bass clarinettist. In addition, he is frequently invited to play with Basel Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonia Zurich, Zurich Chamber Orchestra, Winterthur Symphony Orchestra, Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra and all orchestras in Denmark and plays under such conductors as Charles Dutoit, Valery Gergiev, Kent Nagano, Gianandrea Noseda and Fabio Luisi.

In addition to his orchestral career and many chamber music and solo projects, Livio Russi enjoys teaching in different youth orchestras in Switzerland.
